Finding a Church Home

The search for a church home can be a frustrating one. You aren't familiar with the people. The pastor's preaching style is different. You don't know the music or songs. All in all, very uncomfortable at times. Add to that a church purpose balancing the preaching of the gospel every week without watering down the truth. Its not something we've been looking forward to or are enjoying since we've been failing so far. Those that read this blog, especially those from ASGF, need to know how lucky you are to have a church home. We went through this when we left Adventure and it sucked! We thought we had one for a while, but we found ourselves making excuses and conveniently missing church to go to Fresno to visit Katy's family. Then we found ASGF. The first time we went we knew, this was it. We'd found a home. That feeling of familiarity when there isn't any, the immediate connection you make with the congregation, the inner peace of just knowing, this is where God wants us. Its hard to find, but so sweet when you do.

That being said, we noticed on ASGF's website that Easter service will be held at the Gold Country Fairgrounds again this year and we were reminiscing about how awesome it was last year and how we wish Easter was the following weekend when we'd be in town. Nonetheless, we won't be there and our quest for a church will continue this weekend. But please, all you ASGFers, link pictures on your blogs, email stories to us, let us know how it goes because we know it'll be a sweet time of fellowship that we will dearly miss, as we do all of you. On that note, we'll be trying Pine Grove Baptist Church in Orcutt this weekend, but if anyone knows of another solid church in the Santa Ynez Valley area, please let us know!

Love to you all, and Happy Easter!
Rob and Katy

Oh Grindys...

You guys are always missed. We just got our church directories and it was a little bittersweet seeing your pic in there (btw, Katy looks HOT in your picture...and yes, you look quite handsome as well, Rob :).

We passed a police officer the other day, and I asked Gwen if she knew who was a police officer, and she said "Robbie" and smiled.

We are praying for you guys this Easter and for the church body that you will one day make as strong of an impact on, as you did ours.

We love you guys...

It would have been SO cool if you guys were there today! And Rob - maybe you could have been playing next to Bob! (and Brad, and Scott, and now Ruth!)

Anyway - I wish I had a great story for you - but I don't. They did have Children's Church and childcare for kids 1.5 years and up. That was nice - but I had to push Claire in her stroller with Nicole and Carson. They did the 'breakfast' before hand and things went pretty fast. I got there late (of course) but Bob said that there was a really good quiche - so you missed out on that - but so did I, so don't feel too bad.

The new church directories are pretty cool! Each family gets their own PAGE! Haha. They come in mini-binders. We were joking around that when you're mad at someone you can just tear out their photo.

But don't worry - we'll still keep you guys' in there!!!!

Did I read that you coming up to visit?!?!?!??!?!

Let us know!
Love,
Rachel (& Bob & Claire)

Rob and Katy,
Congradulations on the child. I will be praying for the two of you. I was checking out the Kostjuk blog and saw Rob and Katy Grindy. I haven't heard what has gone on in a while. I miss the old times with both of you guys in SLO.
